The University of Minnesota Band Alumni Society (UMBAS) promotes lasting connections between alumni of the University of Minnesota Bands and supports the University of Minnesota Bands by providing opportunities to participate in musical, social, and philanthropic activities.

The constitution and bylaws outline how UMBAS is required to operate at a high-level. However, there's a lot of details left up to each officer or committee. This freedom lets each person leave their mark on the organization, but can be overwhelming for new members. To counter this, past officers and committee chairs have compiled handbooks for each board position and committee. These handbooks contain checklists, tips, and advice for new officers and committee members.
